My Journey

Ian’s journey into health and fitness started in his early teens and was fuelled
by a passion and desire to excel in sport. His early days at high school were
dominated by rugby, athletics and football but it was football that Ian chose to
channel his energies into. His decision was met with disappointment from his
high school headmaster, who stated at the time..”McCaldon you will regret
this decision for the rest of your life!” After having high hopes of Ian becoming a
prominent fixture in the schools rugby team.

Ian made an intuitive decision to become a personal trainer so he could use his

Ian went on to playing football all through his teenage years while at the same
time doing an apprenticeship in carpentry. No one could have predicted that Ian
would go on to become a professional footballer by the age of 21( A very
poignant moment for his headmaster).

Ian’s professional football career as a goalkeeper started at Livingston FC, a
short spell at St Mirren FC before moving south of the border to play for Oxford
United & Chester City.

At the age of 29 Ian was starting to lose his passion for the game and wanted to
pursue his passion for the ocean and underwater photography. This took Ian out
to Australia, where he acquired a job as a kayak & snorkel tour guide, combined
with taking underwater pictures of the marine life including sharks, turtles and
manta rays.

After 14 memorable months on the ocean, Ian returned to Scotland and regained his
love for football. Showing desire and commitment Ian spent 3 months at Heart
regaining his fitness, training alongside the Scotland Goalkeeper Craig Gordon.
Ian went on and played for Ross county and then Peterhead, where he ended his
professional career.

Since retiring from professional football two years ago, Ian has focused his
energies on studying the human anatomy, through Osteopathy and yoga.
Studying brought Ian closer to understanding the anatomy and how it functions.
Acquiring this knowledge, Ian started to make the connections between the
experiences of his existing skills as a professional footballer and the science
behind all of the physical and mental process he invaluably experienced as a
professional athlete.

Ian made an intuitive decision to become a personal trainer so he could use his
innovative style and passion to inspire people in achieving goals, overcoming
barriers (physical and mental) to reach their desires and achieve perfect wellbeing
for a healthier and happier life style.

Training at the European Institute of Fitness in Alicante, Spain, Ian successfully
achieved a qualification as a REPs level 3 master personal trainer.
